Sustainability Description
Materials
0 Trees Packaging is non-recyclable, non-reusable,
and harmful to the environment. Plastic #3
(PVC), Plastic #6 (PS), Plastic #7 (mixed), multi-
layered plastic films, styrofoam, black plastic.
1 Tree Basic recyclability, but still harmful or single-use.
Plastic #1(PET), Plastic #2 (HDPE), Plastic #5
(PP). Common in water bottles, detergent bottles,
and yogurt cups.
2 Trees Some eco-friendliness: recyclable and minimal
plastic use, but not reusable. Paper/cardboard
with plastic lining, limited #1/#2 plastic, basic glass
or metal without reuse plans.
3 Trees Mostly recyclable, better material mix, or some
reusability. Paper, cardboard, glass, aluminum,
minimal plastic, reused packaging.
4 Trees Recyclable and reusable, designed with
sustainability in mind. Compostable packaging,
reusable containers, plastic-free paper wraps, and
packaging designed for multiple use cycles.
5 Trees Fully circular: closed-loop, reusable, compostable, or zero-waste. Packaging that is 100% reusable,
compostable, biodegradable, or part of a
return/refill ecosystem (e.g., Loop, TerraCycle).
